Why Our Post Bears His Name
Fontana, once known as "Steel Town” helped forge the steel that built America’s warships. Ralph Broiles carried that steel into battle.
Post 6563 exists not simply to meet or to gather, but to remember what courage looks like when there is no escape, no reinforcement, and no promise of rescue.
The story of USS Asheville is a story of defiance in the face of certain destruction. It is a reminder that the measure of a warrior is not whether they win, but whether they stand.
We carry Ralph Broiles’ name because he stood.
We carry it because his sacrifice represents every veteran who has faced overwhelming odds and refused to break.
We carry it because freedom has always been defended by men and women willing to fight when the outcome is uncertain.
Their Legacy Lives Here
His courage is our example.
His defiance is our standard.
His sacrifice is our foundation.
